[Essence] Elfin Whispers

Elfin Whispers was a wonderful birthday present I got from my daughter last Sunday (hence on my actual birthday). It’s currently available at drugstores which have Essence cosmetics and I would have bought it anyway because I was curious when hearing about “melted chrome”. Elfin Whispers is purple and has a metallic finish.

Application is good but you have to be quick; this can get stripy. Without topcoat the finish is more semi-matte or satin. Adding topcoat, the finish becomes glossy – but not shiny as in “mirror-like”. Nevertheless, it’s a pretty colour and formula. This is two coats, by the way.

[Dior] Emerald (#809)

Emerald is my latest and brand new Dior and belongs to this year’s Holiday collection, which had arrived last Saturday at Alsterhaus but since they had not testers, the display was still waiting for being set up. Emerald is a green metallic with a hint of turquoise.

[Chanel] Surprise (#153)

I still have a couple of vintage Chanel nail colours I have not posted (nor worn) yet. Gold is a tricky shade to wear for me – in my view, it’s more something for darker and shorter days … which we have now. In addition, I wanted to apply Surprise for quite a while, so I just pulled it out. I would describe the colour as light gold with a tiny hint of green and metallic finish.

There’s a slight visible nail line after to coats, which didn’t bother me. Artificial light.

[Dior] Metallics (#612)

So here’s the third of this year’s nail varnishes for autumn by Dior. Metallics is a grey metallic (obviously 😉 ) shade, containing a hint of lilac.

Two coats shown below. Depending on the light, you might notice a slight lilac shimmer. Although I like Paradox, I think Metallics is my favourite regarding this collection. It’s more complex.

[Dior] Paradox (#917)

I’m almost on the way to catch my train to Hamburg, but not without showing you Paradox. Green with grey and shimmer, creating a metallic finish. At first glance I felt reminded of Black Pearl – and how I like green-toned shades. However, Black Pearl has a bigger proportion of green, while the shimmer of Paradox is more prominent.

[Dior] Enigma (#337)

When I went to Alsterhaus on Tuesday, to check whether the ladies at Dior know anything about the autumn collection, they were actually expecting me: A drawer was opened, showing three nail varnish boxes with my name attached. Surprise! I was speechless and impressed. 🙂

Today I had Enigma on my nails, which Dior describes as champagne shade, but in my view, it’s more rose gold, or even rosy beige (it certainly has a beige undertone), although with champagne bits of glitter.

Application was two coats. Summer seems to be over and I took the photos outside while it was raining and under grey clouds.
