[Essie] Shorty Pants
Another yellow.
I love yellow shades on my nails. This one has a crème finish. No shimmer or glitter, just bright yellow.

Three coats and not much more to say, this is so beautiful!

[Chanel] L.A. Sunrise
Although yellow, L.A. Sunrise is different than my beloved Mimosa as regards the finish; the shimmer of Mimosa is more glittery and L.A. Sunrise is a bit easier to apply.

Nevertheless, I did three coats.

Introducting another little helper, Casihasi!

[China Glaze] Trendsetter
Unique colour – mustard yellow with a certain amount of olive green, combined with a shimmer finish.

Two coats. And not much text, I’m quite tired…

[Chanel] Clair-Obscur
This is a vanish from the Les Vernis Facettes collection, which must be an older one, since it has been discontinued for a long time. All shades of Les Vernis Facettes are iridescent if not even duochrome; Clair-Obscur shifts between lilac and yellow/gold (although the yellow part is quite hidden). Notice the mattified appearance of the outer square cap as well as of the bottle.

Three coats; Clair-Obscur also has a pearl finish. It’s a lovely shade and quite extraordinary.

[Yves Saint Laurent] Jaune surréaliste (Surreal Yellow)
This is the second polish from YSL’s summer collection, Jaune surréaliste or just Surreal Yellow. It’s actually asleep on the photo.
For Utopian Turquoise, see this post.

As with Utopian Turquoise, this was so hard to find! Or not – after I had seen Utopian Turquoise in that small perfumery. But it took me one day to take a decision, and then it was my boyfriend who insisted on getting Surreal Yellow too. I did not know why I resisted at first; the colour is great, plain and simple. It’s amazing.

It’s actually a bit darker than Mimosa and more golden (Mimosa has a tad of white, in my opinion). Moreover, the shimmer is more intense (= less subtle) and it was opaque after two coats. Application was flawless, and I could wear it for three days without any chipping or tip wear.
[Chanel] Mimosa
Bright yellow with golden shimmer (also cf. this post).

Outside on the balcony on my currently tanned, olive skin.

Indoors.

[Chanel] Les fleurs de l’été – Summer 2011: Mimosa & Morning Rose
Mimosa (on the left) and Morning Rose.

For a swatch of Mimosa, see here.
I wasn’t crazy about the third shade, Beige Pétale (a nude beige) and thus did not snap at the chance to buy them all. They were so hard to get since no-one knew about the actual release date and in the end, my favourite Chanel counter just got four of each shade
, although they had ordered 60! But the lovely Chanel lady remembered me (well, we see each other about once a week and I’d just been there yesterday for the make-up session, but anyway) and just as she was about to give me a ring, she recognised me popping into the store… No joking, I might be the first person in Hamburg having managed to get my hands on them. This might really be true because so far there is not a single auction on eBay Germany…
So, today’s my lucky day! Because, ha ha, right before I bought them, I pre-ordered them at a different perfumery – better safe than sorry!
Here’s Mimosa, yellow with golden shimmer.

Morning Rose is beautiful tool, it has golden flakes and is a light pink with a hint of coral.

Swatches will follow. For now, here is Morning Rose next to Miami Peach (on the right); they have similar glitter particles.

For those of you who know Don’t Feed The Birds by Catrice, which is said to be similar to Mimosa, here they are next to each other. Mimosa is on the left, the middle one is Don’t Feed The Birds, on the right we have Barry M Lemon Ice Cream.

Don’t Feed The Birds is a tad darker than Mimosa and also contains more glitter. It’s a beautiful shade too. Lemon Ice Cream is lighter than the other ones and also a bit of a pastel shade. I guess that if you teamed Lemon Ice Cream and Don’t Feed The Birds, a franken of them would be close to Mimosa.
[essence] Special Effect Toppers (spring/summer 2011)
I recognised that many of you are after this collection and thus spontaneously swatched Time For Reflection, Mystic Mermaid and Hello Holo over my (then) current mani (which was Don’t feed the birds by Catrice).
Index: Time for Reflection, Middle, as well as in my hand: Mystic Mermaid, Ring: Hello Holo. (Thumb and little finger – just Don’t feed the birds.) I wanted to take advantage of the sunlight and thus applied them very quickly.

I thought that the would never work with a yellow, sparkly polish but in the end it looked pretty good. Hello Holo was nice to look at but it didn’t create a holo effect. Mystic Mermaid turned out to be a silver shimmer with small glitter particles. Actually I was quite surprised by Time for reflection with its fine blue shimmer.

I’m not that much into toppers but instead prefer applying them on their own.
[Catrice] Don’t Feed The Birds
A glittery bright yellow… probably similar to Chanel’s upcoming (Summer 2011) Mimosa

This is three coats – four would’ve been better! But anyway, nice application and finish.
