[essence] Nail Art Magnetics (again)

Challenged by their new magnet (different shape), I tried four of their magnetic varnishes again. The old magnet did not work well, at least not for me; it was way too small, which was why I temporarily switched to a Mini Babybel magnet.

I usd two coats each and no top coat and I always tried only once to get the magnetic pattern.

Miracle Shine. (See here for a swatch without magnetic pattern.)

These swatches are older; I made them in July, using the Mini Babybel magnet. You’ll recognise the difference. They are actually very bad. Seems that my skills regarding magnetic polishes have improved over the past few months…

Magic Wand.

Pixie Dust.

Pixie Dust is still my favourite magnetic polish. I like the hint of pink in this shade. Although the Nail Art Magnetics initially came out for spring/summer, they look more like classic autumn shades with their overall metallic theme.

[essence] Nothing Else Metals and Iron Goddess

Two polishes from the discontinued essence Metallics range; I passed on the magnetic effect, but you may find a swatch of Iron Goddess in the linked post – with a hint of magnetic pattern.

Two coats each; this is Nothing Else Metals, probably best described as a pale metallic gold.

Iron Goddess is a light copper tone.

[essence] Hex Hex! (Nail Art Magnetics)

I swatched hex hex! from the essence Nail Art Magnetics, however, being an extremely short-sighted lump, I did not do a magnetic pattern. I always put the magnet too close to the mani and bump the polish; this would require some skilled person… Anyway, I prefer the magnetic polishes on their own.

hex hex

Hex hex! ist a charcoal grey with metallic glitter particles. To me it seems that there is also a hint of pink somewhere in the lacquer, but this isn’t visible on the nail.

[essence] Nail Art Magnetics Completed!

Today was a lucky day – “magic wand”, the new pink-ish magnetic lacquer, was available again at my favourite drugstore. Here’s the family, reunited:

Got the new essence magnet as well. :)

[essence] miracle shine

“Nail Art Magnetics” edition. It’s somewhat iridescent between silver and pale pink.

With Magic Wand on the ring finger (a pale metallic pink); I did not use the magnet with this since I thought the colours are beautiful on their own and so far, I never managed to make the magnetic effect look nicely…

[essence] Metallics

These were hard to find, as they are a limited edition.

Iron Goddess
Copper Rulez!
Steel Me
Nothing Else Metals
Metal Battle (this is said to be close to Chanel Steel)

The first four of them are magnetic (they create magnetic patterns), Metal Battle isn’t.

I tried Iron Goddess but the magnetic effect was very weak. I didn’t dare putting the magnet too close (and I am extremely short-sighted! ). Moreover I messed up the middle finger by… holding the magnet too close!

The actual essence magnet doesn’t work very well since it is quite weak. I used a fridge magnet which did a good job!
