[Yves Saint Laurent] Jaune surréaliste (Surreal Yellow)

This is the second polish from YSL’s summer collection, Jaune surréaliste or just Surreal Yellow. It’s actually asleep on the photo. zzz  For Utopian Turquoise, see this post.

As with Utopian Turquoise, this was so hard to find! Or not – after I had seen Utopian Turquoise in that small perfumery. But it took me one day to take a decision, and then it was my boyfriend who insisted on getting Surreal Yellow too. I did not know why I resisted at first; the colour is great, plain and simple. It’s amazing.

It’s actually a bit darker than Mimosa and more golden (Mimosa has a tad of white, in my opinion). Moreover, the shimmer is more intense (= less subtle) and it was opaque after two coats. Application was flawless, and I could wear it for three days without any chipping or tip wear.

[Nars] Orgasm

Here’s a polish that doesn’t look good on me (I think). Orgasm is a stunning shimmery peach, it has got flakies, it is overall popular… but it does not go well with my skin tone.

I took this photo ages ago and remember that I was quite tanned at that time, so I should probably give Orgasm another try, since summer is over now. Three coats.

I revisited Orgasm in late October 2011; this is how it turned out. Still not my colour but more beautiful, in my view… :)

[Dior] Nirvana

It’s been a while since I had this on my nails; Nirvana is a crème teal (or petrol) from this year’s Rock Your Nails collection. I was given this by my boyfriend, and for him, it is one of the most beautiful Dior shades ever.

I really like the formula; application was great – this is the full mani, which was done probably two months ago!

This is not about polishes.

Just a quick note to share good news – you might probably know German handbag label George Gina & Lucy (aka GGL); I’m into their bags since 2006 and own about 30 of them. I particularly love their Nylon range with its signature lock (a carabiner). From time to time, I post pictures of bags with matching nail polishes.

In a nutshell (only three minutes to go, so sorry for my messy writing, won’t be able to proofread now), my favourite GGL boutique – “Medusa” in Westerland on the North Sea island of Sylt – invited me to have a look at the upcoming collection 1/2012; they will be meeting a GGL sales representative this afternoon, and I’ll be there too! A dream comes true. :) In fact, it was a kind of drawing (if I remember right); I applied just for fun because the event takes place here in Hamburg and I’ve got time anyway… and I won.

Unfortunately, I won’t be allowed to take photos but I will take notes, and they asked me to write a report about what they ordered etc too, so I’m just looking forward and hoping to have a wonderful day, which is already sunny and nice. :) And I’m still wearing Blue Denim, I love it.

[Dior] Blue Denim

This is from the brand new Fall Collection 2011, a crème finish vibrant blue. My polish to celebrate the closing night of the Fantasy Filmfest 2011. I’m just back from the movies and watched “22nd of May” and “Attack the Block”.

blue denim

When I saw it in the bottle, it seemed quite boring to me but anyway I wanted to have it. On my nails, its stunning!

Another one, more colour authentic.

I’ll get Tuxedo, the shimmery dark blue, too – unfortunately this has not arrived yet; the store is still waiting for it. The Dior lady told me that she had ordered 36 bottles of Blue Denim which all sold out immediately…

[Chanel] Noir Ceramic

My twitter name. The beautiful Noir Ceramic by Chanel, with its slight metallic shimmer.

noir ceramic

At a horror movie festival, you can’t basically wear anything else than black or dark shades. So this is my favourite for the next two days.

The Fantasy Filmfest has been wonderful so far. One of the films I watched was “Hideaways”; you should not miss it, in case it will ever be screened. It’s far from horror but a beautiful love story with fantasy elements.

Purchasing Noir Ceramic, however, was kind of horror. I ended up getting it twice, from different eBay sellers because the first purchase was disastrous. The seller (eBay Germany) had marked it as “shipped”, but the tracking number was not valid. I tried to get in touch with her several times but she wouldn never react. However, there was another auction on eBay UK, thus I gave that one a try (at that time I had no idea what would become of the first purchase) – and won. This seller was really nice. However, in the meantime I received the other (“first”) polish, after I had set a clear deadline and probably scared that seller. To cut it short, I’ve got two bottles of this beautiful stuff now.

This is where I’m going to be

… for one week! The 25th anniversary of the Fantasy Filmfest. Been there already for the past few years.

fff

I’m into all that arthouse, independent, suspense and horror stuff. I’m going to watch the opening film with one of my closest friends, and I’m wearing Fuggen Ugly now because it’s just ideal for a horror film festival (and it’s meant to be a long lasting formula).

[p2] Rich

What I love about p2 varnishes is that they’ve got some unique shades. Gorgeous is still my favourite and Rich has caught me too. It’s a jelly-ish plum and, you got the name, rich of glitter and flakies. Unfortunately it is a discontinued shade and probably even from last year, since I got it from the clearance bin in spring.

[Chanel] Shanghai Red

I love the reds by Chanel – they are amazing! Shanghai Red is has a slight hint of blue and the typical subtle shimmer.
